S&DMRC Newsletter (16)
« on: September 11, 2023, 17:56:02 PM »
Hello Everyone.
I was planning to do the next Newsletter in a month or so but with the changes in restrictions with regards to Covid-19, l thought now would be a good time.

WE ARE OPEN...  (sort off)
As you are aware from the 19th July we are now able to ‘open’ the Clubroom.
According to the guidelines on gov.uk;
You do not need to stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with. There are also no limits on the number of people you can meet.
However,
In order to minimise risk at a time of high prevalence, you should limit the close contact you have with those you do not usually live with, and increase close contact gradually. This includes minimising the number, proximity and duration of social contacts.
So due to the limitations on space at the Club, we would suggest that the maximum number of members in the clubroom at the moment should be 6 or 8 at a push.
Still please ensure that the front door and windows are kept open whilst members are in attendance. If you feel that you wish to continue wearing a face mask that is fine and if you feel you can only attend if other members do the same then this can also be accommodated by mutual arrangement.

OPEN DAY
The idea of an 'open day' has been discussed over the lockdown but at present, this will have to wait until either late August or September.

EXTRA SPACE
Discussions with the landlords led to the offer of some storage space in another building. The space will be used for the storage of layouts (it being on the ground floor makes it easier for the transportation of baseboards etc.) and surplus materials. This will free up space within the Clubroom for members.

EGM
Due to the lockdowns, there was no AGM in 2020 and the AGM for this year was done online. As meeting ‘face to face’ is far better the date of
Saturday 23rd October 2021 has been suggested as a date for an EGM. If the meeting will starts promptly at 10am and will finish no later than 11.30am, it may us time to enjoy sausage rolls, a drink and run a few trains!
Should the Agenda suggest insufficient time then we may have to do without the sausages!

CLEANING/SAFETY
Just because restrictions have been lifted it does not mean that we should not continue with cleanliness, hand sanitiser etc., will continue to be provided.
Also another reminder that only the ‘eco’ friendly products supplied should be used due to the new waste system at the farm, do not bring in any of your own products without checking with the Committee first.

EXHIBITIONS & SHOWS
We have been asked if we can supply a layout for the Cradley Heath Model Railway Show on 9th October 2021.
Mike has offered to take Bodmin Road, if you can assist in any way (preparing the layout or on the day) please speak to Mike.
Shottery Church has also asked if we have something to take along for their 150th Anniversary Fete on the 16th October 2021.
Peter is taking a small table top layout. Again if you can assist in any way please speak to Peter

And finally...
Nobody has mentioned it, so l presume that none of you have noticed that the Clubs website was rebuilt during the lockdown and went ‘live’ on the 25th May. It loads quicker and is more streamlined than the old version, is linked to our Facebook page, that Peter and myself update frequently (how many of you have looked at that?). There is also a link to the ‘members’ section on the website (and how many of you have been there since the online AGM?).

That’s all for now. Take care, keep safe and hopefully l will see you all at some point at the Club.
