CHIPPENHAM
Some members have recently asked about the N gauge layout being built at the club. We have not had a N gauge layout since a former member removed his Kato layout, but we have as many members interested in N gauge as we do in 0 gauge so their interests should be catered for within the club, it also allows members who model in different scales to get involved in a different gauge.
So for clarification the N gauge layout is an attempt to reproduce in 2mm scale a representation of Chippenham station from the mid thirties to early fifties. It is planned to be constructed to a exhibition standard and will be available for display/operation at exhibitions if requested. It will consist of five 4ft x 3ft (approx) boards and it will be a DCC controlled layout. It will also use Megapoint controllers and servos for the points (similar to Martin's West Works layout).
To date it has entirely been funded independently by individual members of the Club who are also committed to continuing the funding. Members are welcome to assist in any way with its construction (some other members have made donations of funds and equipment) and already there are a number of members interested in going on another site visit to Chippenham station to assist in surveying what remains of the buildings.
So if you want any more information on Chippenham, help with its construction, make a donation of any kind or would like details of the site survey trip being arranged then please contact Alwyn.

CARDIFF MES
On Sunday 29th April seven members of the club travelled to Cardiff to maintain the link between the two clubs and to see progress on both the indoor 00 gauge layout and the outdoor railways and tram line.
Despite the chilly wind and overcast sky all had a great time. The rolling stock on display was impressive, much of it built by CMES members themselves. The photographs show some of these locos.
This was our third visit to Cardiff and we look forward to another visit next year. We hope to be able to reciprocate the hospitality shown to us by welcoming some of them to Stratford in the not too distant future.

‘SAUSAGE SATURDAY’
The first club running day was held on Saturday 5th May. Cutlers Junction, the Quarry and the 0 Gauge layout were all in operation.
Plenty of members turned up and enjoyed nice weather and plenty of chatter along with some superb sausages which were provided by Peter P and eagerly devoured by all there!
Future running days are planned to be held on the first Saturday of each month so the next one will be held on the 2nd June.
