S&DMRC Newsletter (19)

Welcome to the latest issue of our Newsletter.

CLUB SHOW
The Club is holding its 2nd Show 10am – 4.30pm on Sunday 5th March, at the Stratford Bowls Club, The Readings, Main Road, Tiddington CV37 7AA.
Help will be needed to transport layouts, erect them on the Saturday and dismantle and return on the Sunday. Help will also be needed to operate layouts, man sales tables etc.
This will all be discussed further at an EGM (details below).

SAUSAGE SATURDAY
& E G M
Our next Sausage Saturday will be on the 7th Jan 2023. No guests to this one, as we will be holding an EGM at the same time. We hope as many members as possible will come along.

The Club will hold it’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday 15th April 2023

OTHER NEWS
We have been invited to a number of events in 2023 as well as our own show.
We have been asked to take along a couple of layouts to the Volvo Owners Club Annual Event on Sunday July 9th 2023 at Stratford Racecourse.
We have also been offered a room at the Great British Train Show at Gaydon on the 28th and 29th October 2023. This room was used by Hornby this year to display their new TT-120 range. We will be looking to take 3 or 4 layouts plus a Club information table.

The Club will be holding another ‘open day’ for family and friends on Saturday 11th June 2023.

PRACTICAL COURSES
Practical courses have restarted following the hiatus due to Covid. Members have recently had the opportunity to take part in further practical courses on scratch building with styrene by Alwyn and Tony will shortly commence his electrical course.

PROJECTS
There is plenty going on for members who want to get involved.
We were given a number of layouts that are currently being brought back into an operational condition (speak to Peter).
Other layouts under construction include Brunel Quay in N gauge and Alcester in OO gauge. Plus the O gauge branch layout is currently undergoing relaying of track and rewiring.

SAUSAGE SATURDAYS
Sausage Saturdays are proving to very popular with members. We hope that this will now become a monthly event going forward. Thanks to Peter for organising these.

CLUB SOCIAL EVENTS
Tony’s recent health issues meant that Julie kindly stepped in and arrange an excellent day out for members at Pendon Museum and Didcot. Julie also organised the members Christmas Lunch at Broom Hall on the 3rd`December.

SUGGESTIONS & QUESTIONS
Notice Board by kitchen
If you have any suggestions, ideas or questions relating to the Club and its activities, jot them down and pin it on the board. A Club ‘Forum’ will then be held after a suitable period, so that they can be addressed/discussed. You are also welcome at any time to speak to a member of the Committee or send them an email if you have any ideas, questions or concerns.
