Post by: Martin on September 11, 2023, 17:57:23 PM
Hello and welcome to yet another Club Newsletter. My apologies for the delay.

CLUB NOW OPEN
The Club is now fully open to members. You should all now be getting an email each Sunday, so that members can use it to reply (to all), notifying others if they intend to attend the Club on any particular day that week. It is used to monitor the numbers attending the Club on any given day. At present, due to space being made for the BBC filming, there is ample space for members, but this may not always be the case.
The Committee would like to thank all of our members for their continued support, especially over the last eighteen months or so.

BBC
As you are all probably aware, the BBC have used the Clubroom and its layouts, in the filming of an episode of Shakespeare & Hathaway. It was a long day, but watching how they put ‘scenes’ together was very interesting. The Class 25 (Tony) and the Pullman coaches (Glyn) ran for the most part without any problems, just a couple derailments taking place. If we get a date for its screening l will let you know, but it is likely to be March 2022 (unless it ends up on the editing room floor)!

SAUSAGE SATURDAYS
Yes, they are back! One was held back at the start of September. Where we had some lovely autumn weather.
It meant part of it could be held outside, with Tony’s G Gauge trains providing the entertainment.
Following the BBC’s filming on Friday the 5th November another ‘Sausage Saturday’ was held within the Clubroom, The space created by the BBC filming meant that there was plenty of room for members and visitors to mingle.
Again, the excellent food was cooked by our ‘Sausage Saturday’ expert Peter, many thanks to him, for his time in preparing the food for the day.

Coming Soon, at the Club...
ANYRAIL
On December the 4th 10am -11am myself and Peter will be holding a demonstration of using the ANYRAIL track planning software, you will be able to see it in action, ask any questions and even have a go with it.
SAUSAGE SATURDAY
Also on the 4th December, following the Anyrail demonstration, we will have our final ‘Sausage Saturday’ of 2021.
AMERICAN AFTERNOON TEA
Due to continued concerns over the infection rates, it has been decided not to have a Christmas Lunch this year. Instead we will have an ‘American Afternoon Tea’ on the 11th December (details will be emailed to members).
We will continue to monitor the situation with the hopes of having a lunch somewhere in the Spring of 2022.
QUESTION FOR MEMBERS?
What would you like to have a go at, or gain more information on, at the Club?
The main reasons for joining a Club are the ‘socialising’ (having a chat and cuppa) and ‘activities’ (getting involved in layouts or projects). The first is easy, just turn up and put the kettle on! The second requires members input, what would you like to do, see or understand more off.
We have had requests about track planning, so as already mentioned, a demonstration of Anyrail is now arranged.
Some members have asked about learning how to do ‘scenery’. We have in the past done a demonstration on Flocking, which we can do again. One of the best ways is ‘to have a go’, so the Committee are looking to come up with projects for members to learn on.
If you have any suggestions or there are any topics that you would like to know more about please let one of the Committee know.
