S&DMRC Newsletter ( 14 )
« on: March 30, 2021, 17:05:21 PM »
Hello All. I hope this newsletter finds you all well.

Before anything else, on behalf of the Committee can l say a big thank you to ALL the members for continuing to support the Club during this difficult period. For some of you it has been almost a year since you last had the opportunity to get to the Club, so your continued support is extremely appreciated. Let’s hope soon we will all be able to be at the Club (I’ve missed Peter’s Sausage Saturdays!).

LAYOUTS/PROJECTS
Chippenham: If you have not received an email from Alywn recently, he has had an invite from the Lutterworth Model Railway Society to exhibit the Chippenham Layout at their anniversary exhibition in May 2022. Members will be informed as and when further details become available. It may seem a way off, but we do not
know when or how Covid restrictions are going to be lifted, so it will come around quick enough. Before the lockdown, scenery had continued to be added and lighting rigs to all of the boards have been constructed, along with improvements to the control panel.
Cutlers Junction: Before the current lockdown some work had been undertaken by myself, Tony and Glyn. All the gradients have been installed and track laid. Tony has been re-working some of the card buildings kindly donated by Don for use on the layout, l have built a few more for the Goods Yard but there is still plenty to do!
0 Gauge Branch: Nothing has happened on the layout, although l will move onto that this year (hopefully).
G Scale (outside): Tony hopes to get on with this lockdown/weather permitting (although the next extension will be seen heading towards Bidford !!).
Bodmin N Gauge: Due to the lockdowns Mike and Graham have been restricted from doing any more.
Woodings Yard: We are still looking for someone to be the project leader for this layout. It all works, but needs some TLC.

AGM
As you know we did not hold an AGM last year. The Committee did manage one meeting (in Tony's garden!) last year, during a break in the lockdowns. In January we tried holding an online Committee Meeting which went well. We will hold another at the start of April and follow that with an AGM for the Club on the 24th of April. Unless there is a major change in the Covid guidelines the AGM will also be 'online'. More details of how it will work and its contents will be sent to members shortly. So if there is anything you want to raise make a note, just for now.
Would members please give some thought as to whether you would like to become a Committee member. If you are interested please let me know.

NEW MEMBERS
On thing we need to get on with as soon as practical is the attraction of new members. During the Coronavirus outbreak we have lost a
couple of members, so we do need some 'new blood'. Judging by model press/media etc., there has been a massive increase in the hobby
of model railways, as shown by stock selling out all over the place! We need to capitalise on this new interest, so if you have any suggestions/ideas please let us know so it can be discussed by the Committee or at the AGM. Alwyn is investigating the feasibility of a small exhibition in Stratford to attract new members. Also, if you are now aware of anyone who may be interested in model railways try and persuade them to come along to the Club to see what goes on.

CLEANING
As you know the landlords have installed a new waste management system at the farm, they have said that we must not use things such as bleach, toilet cleaner, washing up liquid etc. unless they are eco-friendly. To this end all of those products have been removed from the kitchen/toilet area (they are in a box in the clubroom, help yourself if you want them) and have been replaced by e-clover washiing up liquid, toilet cleaner and surface cleaner, which are now in the kitchen/toilet.
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
That’s all for now. Take care, keep safe and hopefully we will all meet soon.
